Why I Write –
In Isaiah chapter sixty four the prophet laments the fact that during the end times many who could be expected to will fail to call upon the Lord for deliverance, and to seek Him for His will in their lives to better serve Him in the days just prior to his return. Isaiah describes this turning to the Lord as it were a wakeup call, as of one stirring up a zeal for the Lord within them:
And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities. (Isa 64:7)
In Peter’s second epistle to the saints he writes to remind Christians of the promises and assurances in our precious faith, and to encourage our diligence in the Lord in order that we may keep our calling and election firm (2Pet 2:10). Peter tells us it was his continual occupation by preaching and by writing to stir us up in the Lord this way: “Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;” (2Pe 1:13).
Peter admonished us to rely on the Bible, on the words of the prophets, the apostles, and our Lord Jesus Christ, as we see the day of the Lord dawning; and to rebuke scoffers during the end times with Bible doctrine (2Pet 3:3-18). This is a part of our calling. Peter wrote to arouse us in the faith and to continue in the purifying of our minds through the word of God: “This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:”(2Pe 3:1).
Paul wrote for the same reason; to instruct, to encourage, to edify, to correct, to build us up in the faith. To enable us to live for Christ, the Lord gives us grace; His power through the Holy Spirit. To serve the Lord, He has given us gifts; distributed to each according to His will. Paul wrote to Timothy to arouse him in the faith this way: ”Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands” (2Ti 1:6). I write to stir myself up in the Lord and to stir up the gift that is in me, and I write to stir up others in the Lord, and the gift that is in them.
How I Write –
But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
(1Jn 2:20)
My qualifications for writing on issues of the faith proceed from a special endowment deposited by the source of that word. It is special not because I have it (that is a miracle), it is special because of where it is from; and it is given to as many as are born again:
But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. (1Jn 2:27)
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (Joh 14:26)
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. (Joh 16:13)
I submit no other special credentials. Any time my work is good, He is helping me; any time my work is not, I’m helping my self. My beliefs may be summed as premillennial dispensationalism.
